It's actually sand in his hand; he was making them at the beach with his family and suddenly had a lot of fun knocking them all down - the photo was taken just as he finished doing this, so it's a smug face of someone who successfully and happily destroyed some sandcastles. So the meme makes sense.
There's nothing wrong with speaking up when you see something you consider wrong. If you don't want to see any "butthurt" comments, don't post things that can be potentially rude (and i get a lot of things can be rude but oh fucking well) or just scroll past it.
If you think a joke on a JOKE SITE based on a nearly-universal social observation is wrong, you might want to stop visiting said site. Scroll past, my ass.
