They've countlessly made references to the fact that that is his neck-ear. Personally, I don't think it doesn't really even look like an Adam's Apple.

Not just lack of an ear on the side of his head, his nose goes right under his left lens. The bridge of his glasses are on top of the corner of his nose

His glasses aren't even glasses. His lenses aren't connected. They just sit on his face in two separate pieces.
