Yeah, we got seperated into groups and each group had its own colour, after we have to split the chocolate up evenly.

We have a rule that our kids at the end have to dump all their finds into a pile and it's shared out equally. This is because we're super lazy. I don't want to be sorting out plastic eggs and color matching buckets.

Just what we need, to teach kids that they deserve what others have earned just to make things "fair." It's utter bullshit.

Until a child reaches 8, their brain can not comprehend the complexities of working and not being rewarded because someone else is better. Which is why they often do the "trophy for all" thing until then. Small children's brains don't understand competition. It's supposed to be about teaching kids to share and consider others who have less, something they can understand at that age. It's a good idea, for small children. There is method to their madness.

Nah for us it was a competition. If you didn't bring your a game on easter then it was about to be a sad day for you

I totally agree with you. It's a cool idea in theory, but to me it seems just like the concept of trophies. You don't want one kid to feel like they're getting the short end of the stick so you give them all the same amount of eggs / everyone gets a trophy and in the end everyone is "equal" or gets their "fair share," something that doesn't actually happen in real life. It's teaches kids from a young age that everyone is equal when, in fact, they're not.

I believe that one is blue and the other is purple.

This is a grandma doing it so they're probably playing with cousins. Not all cousins are the same age. I'm sure they want the little kids to get some too. This isn't like everyone gets a "participation trophy".

That's how I grew up doing it... Now I'm curious - how do you guys normally do easter egg hunts??

Well we all go and search for chocolate eggs and stuff and we put t in a basket thingy, but the way my family works is after we are done looking for the chocolate we put it all into a big bowl to share.

We would count all the eggs first, and everyone had a specific number they could collect. We would also have prize eggs and money eggs. Also, the youngest kids got a 5 minute head start. Once everyone was older, (admittedly, way to old to be hunting for Easter eggs,) it became a free for all. And there would be eggs on the roof and up trees and super difficult to get to.

Believe it or not, that's not an original idea. Tons of people color coordinate their eggs

We only got one egg each when we were small.
