I don't think the car stalled - having taken the wrong route, the driver stopped to ask for directions outside a sandwich shop... The very same sandwich shop that the final assassin had gone into in order to get a snack after deciding he wasn't going to go through with the killing. As he walked out (with sandwich in hand) he saw the car right there and seized the opportunity.
(I believe I also read somewhere that, after the deed, the assassin claimed he felt he HAD to kill Ferdinand as it seemed too coincidental that the Archduke would follow him to the sandwich shop - he took it as a sign that it was the right thing to do. Strange fates, huh?)
My history teacher told us that the grenade had missed but injured the archduke and they changed routes to go to the hospital, but then they had to stop and that's where the last of the six guys was eating a sandwich (like specialagentjesus said)
Also the Archduke wanted to look super sharp so always had himself sewn into his clothes rather than buttoned in. Because of this there was a delay in getting him medical help as they struggled to get his clothes off.
Guys, I really love this story of how he died and all, so I want to share this:

Please read the 'Assasination' part, it's really interesting!
Gosh, i love this!
Franz Ferdinand is also the name of one of my favourite bands :3
