It's called a "Trojan" though (a native of ancient Troy), not a "Trojan Horse" that's being referenced which is a totally different thing.

So it's named after a city that was stupid enough to let in a large contraption even after the local princess/psychic chick warned them that they would penetrate the city and lots of people would be killed

Nope. It's a dude's head with ancient Greek style helmet on. I looked up the history and when they set up in the 1920s or so the leading brand competition was Ramses. So I suspect they picked the name Trojan because it sounded ancient worldey too.

Its named after a city because the city had such impenetrable walls.

They weren't. The greek left the horse on the beach and 'retreated' (they hid on a nearby island until the night) and left a couple of man in the horse, and one man outside of it. The one who wasnt in the horse, said the greeks had betrayed him. He said he hated the greeks now and he said that the horse was a sacrifice to the goddes Athene to help the greeks get home safely, and if the Trojans would take the horse inside their walls, the sacrifice wouldnt work. The trojan did so (even though they were warned by a priest who then got pulled into the sea by a serpent). The Trojans partied because they won the war and drank wine. When they got to sleep the greeks got out of the horse, killed the guards, and opened the gate for the greeks who had returned from the island. They proceeded to kill everyone in Troje in a masacre. Only a few escaped, one of wich would become an ancestor of romulus and remus, the founders of Rome.
