I honestly did read them when I was about 10, my grandma sent me the first and second books for Christmas, I read them within about a week and then bought the rest of the series, as well as the films. I'm still as crazy about Harry Potter as I was when I was 10, and I'm now 16. :)

Those books are around 500 pages, each, I believe. Your average child, especially these days, probably can't read them..
