One Million Moms is just a homophobic, ignorant, hate group. Anything related to homosexuality, they try to ban because they think its "inappropriate" and "unnatural".
They tried to stop JCPenney from making Ellen DeGeneres their spokesperson. It didn't work and because of the controversy, people said they'll always shop at JCPenney.
Ok this is bullshit. I'm sorry but it's true! I'm not homophobic, I actually think gay people are some of the nicest people ever! But this whole gay thing is getting way outta hand. Gays are being worshipped and praised just because they're gay!! Soon, it's gonna get to the point where you see more gay couples than straight ones!! What the hell?!?
I understand, but I see it more of trying to get people to be less homophobic, but they should do it in a way to where it doesn't seem like gays are holy gods just for being gay ( which it seems like some people want if you look on tumblr )
Putting us in ads is part of normalizing us. It's like refusing to put black people in ads. We exist. Not putting us in ads, shows, ect. is like saying we don't. This is one way we can get rid of a heteronormative society. There are ads, songs, shows, and everything else depicting heterosexual relationships EVERYWHERE. It's pretty much all we get to look at. So one or two ads, especially one celebrating ALL mothers and fathers, aren't that big of a deal, nor is it "worship".
I do see your point. But as a straight person i can't exactly imagine what it must be like feeling outcasted by the media. Sorry :( (The medias run by assholes anyway)
It's a stupid word though. "Phobias" are irrational fears. Simply disagreeing with something is neither inherently irrational nor a fear. The use of the word is usually just a way to help people feel justified in their own bigotry.
In some ways, homophobes are truly afraid of homosexuality and homosexuals. They fear their own sexualities and what we mean for society. All hatred does stem from a bit of fear. "Phobia" is accurate.
