Well, literally, my school only has pep rallies to cheer for football, lacrosse, baseball, basketball, etc. It'd be nice if they paid tribute to academic achievements.

Except for professional sports, all of life after school pays tribute to academic achievement. Also, team sports build solidarity among the student body
