Similar problem in World Cup 2010, South Africa. Billions spent on infrastructure, hardly anything done to address problems that have been affecting inhabitants for decades. And still, hardly anything has been done, despite the consolations that the foreign income would boost the economy to help the country's less fortunate.

Its discussing. There are pictures of huge World Cup stadiums in Brazil and all you see in the background are home made tents and houses where people live. It makes me think of how much power our own government really has. They could be putting the money into programs and helping people escape the poverty line. But NOPE let's show off to the world instead.

This is America every single day. Oh what? There are tons of hungry people and we have the means to feed them? No thanks bro, I'm just gonna dig up some oil in someone else's yard even though we have plenty here.

Welfare is very easy to get in America, pride is the main reason people won't get it.

And they are also hosting the 2016 summer Olympics. I can't help but think they should've chosen different locations for these two events.

The World Cup is going to bring the country billions of dollars and it will help the economy, and the poor

It doesn't help much if the government is corrupt. In SA the billions went into the fat cats coffers.
