Several reasons; first, the relationship described in the stories outlines that of an abusive relationship, what with the physical injury, the total dependence, the implied demeaning tones and gestures between the main characters, etc. Second, the writing style is, for the most part, sloppy, low level to most readers, and falls to be enriching to the intellect of the reader. Lastly, as a personal note, what it did to the vampire lore. I mean, sparkles??
I mean no disrespect to Mrs. Meyer, but the book had its issues, and I'm not the only one to feel this way.
I understand but I still love the story. I think it is because he actually does love her and she loves him. All in all, my favorite part is the unconditional love between them. Can you see my point?
