I also hate how they have made the dating scene harder, not only was it hard to find a female who loved video games but now we have to Find out if they're a "gamer girls" or if they actually enjoy games.
I am not a gamer girl, not at all. But I am willing to learn! Videos games sound really fun, but I don't know how to start. Every time I go to GameStop or something the guy working there doesn't take me seriously and is all like sure you don't want to get Mario kart or something? Don't get me wrong, Mario Kart is an awesome game but I am looking for something else. In fact, if I ever express interest in gaming I am called out as being fake. The false gamer girls have ruined it for me.
If you are just starting out, I highly recommend playing some "essential" games, basically games like last of us, skyrim or journey. That'll give you a taste of some of the best thegaming world has to offer. From there, you might find that you like a particular genre, like hack n slash, RPGs, sandboxes, FPS that you'll get into. When I first started gaming 5 years ago, I started with those boring point and click games. I then moved to hack and slash and am now enjoying RPGS and sandboxes
Also, if you are being pushed away from gaming because of an employee at Gamestop, I'd recommend getting a decent gaming computer (which is also good for other things) so you can get something like steam and start playing with that. The reason why I am ending up recommending steam is because it has a plethora of genres and even indie games. If you want recommendations of titles just ask me a genre and I can probably recommend something.
