It's funny to me that the guess was just explaining the stereotype. He or she never said he / she was the one who assumed he was Mexican and the guess Grey's more downvotes lol
One of my biggest pet peeves is when someone says they are Hispanic or Latino they automatically think "Mexican". Even though I am Mexican it gets in my nerves I don't know it just does. And then they say " isn't it the same thing?" Yes and no if you are Mexican you are Hispanic and Latino but if your Latino/Hispanic that doesn't necessarily mean you are Mexican. You are Latino/Hispanic if you are from a country or your family is from a country whose one of their main language is Spanish. My friend every time she says she's Hispanic they say " oh you're Mexican" and she has to say she's actually Colombian.

you wanna know what gets on my nerves? The other day a woman approached my mum in a store and started speaking to her very slowly and said "DO Y-OU KNOW. WHERE THE P-A-S-T-A IS?"
I hate that when people see us they automatically think "hey that person doesn't speak English and hey look she's Mexican too she probably works here"
I am mexican, and I totally get that. It makes me mad that all latinos and hispanics HAVE to be mexican... Ugh.
It's like meeting a european and going "Oooh, bonjour~"
Seriously Venezuela is in South America, Mexico is in North America. My friends always have to clarify that they are not Mexican but they are Hispanic. And some people bring racism into the situation. My friend was called racist just because she said " I'm not Mexican I am Colombian" then the guy was like "What's wrong with being Mexican, I am not Mexican but I wouldn't mind if I was. That's kind of offensive to Mexicans" Luckily I was there and since I am Mexican I told its not racist to clarify her nationality and I did not find that offensive. If anything he was being ignorrant for thinking all Hispanics are Mexican.
