Yeah :)
Plus it was on independence day, and even though wherever that was probably wasn't America, it's still cool. FREEDOM
Or was it 12:01am July 5th?
It's disgusting that people will take these elephants chain them and keep them in small enclosures. This was a great story and I am all happy at the end but this story should never have been able to be written in the first place- this elephant should always have stayed with its family!
amazing, i didn't think it was possible for an elephant to appear malnourished, but here it is, i hope enjoys many wonderful years grazing at his leisure
Fantastic that the elephant was rescued, but elephants don't 'cry'. If we go too far with personification then animals get harmed that way too. But keep up the good work, whoever rescued it.

There is no conclusive evidence as to whether they do or do not. There are objective observations, like this one, that suggest they do. The nonpersonification of animals most likely does far greater harm.
My point isn't 'don't treat animals well', every animal is entitled to a happy, healthy life free of fear and pain. My point is that lots of people believe animals can comprehend things the way humans do. For an example, lots of people pour a lot of love into horses, through hugging/snacks etc. This only gives the horse the signals that it is dominant and people get hurt, or the horse becomes overweight etc. Same with overweight dogs, and animals that cause damage because they've never been taught boundaries. Animals shouldn't be thought of to be humans, but they should be treated with the same respect that their animal counterparts show them, not the respect humans show humans. Things like saying animals 'cry' further develops the misconception.
I am still perplexed to the fact that there are still people in this world who can be so brutal to an such innocent beings like this elephant. He is one more innocent victim from the cruealty of heartless and brainless creature in this world. Great appreciation for the ones who set this extraordinary animal free!
Bless those who saved this elephant. The former owners should be shackled with spiked chains as a punishment. Only when they suffer will they understand the horror of what they've done to a gentle majestic creature.
