That Facial Detection... GIF

Am I missing something? there's a person there and her face is detected... isn't that how its supposed to work?

One: It's detecting a face somewhere in the darkness that we can't see.
Two: It didn't detect the rather sad looking person sitting on the stairs.
Countdown to Nopeville: 3...2...1

I think the person on the stairs may be dead ;_;
