Yep. I worked in an office that resembled the operations of the one in Office Space.
Sometimes I tried to do a good job not for the satisfaction of a job well done, but to avoid the parade of people coming to my desk to ask me what went wrong.

It sucks but you have the satisfaction if knowing you did the right thing.
