There is actually a brand of tape called Duck tape.

technically, you could refer to it as either duct or duck tape and it would still be accurate.

Isn't the generic name for it duct tape and the brand Duck Tape kind of how everyone says "hand me a Kleenex" but that's the brand name the generic name for it is tissue?
