Without going into too much detail, the "days" he created the earth aren't like the 24 hour "days" we revolve around. We don't know how long the days were, they were most likely much much longer than we think. It's hard to wrap our minds around it because we are raised to think of time in short calculated numbers. So the sun doesn't need to be around to signify a "day" in the bible. :) Hope I helped, it's a confusing subject

Thank you. God's Time is not the same as mortal time. A second for Him could be a century for us.
That's a good theological analysis, but there are many fundamentalists that believe in a literal translation, that Earth was created in six 24 hour days, 6000 years ago...
.
Nevermind that the translation that their faith is based on has been heavily westernized and some of the verse reads very differently to other translations.
Yeah, I am Christian, but I have been raised to believe, and do believe, that the Bible is a book about faith and of faith, not science. I once had a guy pour over the Bible trying to prove that God's day equals one of ours. He gave up after two weeks.
Good for him for bothering to check and keeping at it for so long. There are so very few that do. Too many just take too much at a word, in both science and faith.
For those who don't take the translation literally, the "days" are just periods of time. We don't know how long each period of time is, they could each be thousands upon thousands of years! Time continues on regardless of the presence of light or the rotation of earth.
And thus evolution can still exist within these "days", and since he created fish, birds and then land animals, which fits the order of evolution, it's even more likely. I don't know how many others think this as well but I believe in it strongly.
