I personally am not going to do it. I refuse to waste a bucket of perfectly good water by dumping it over myself for a few views on youtube or fb, when there are children not too far away who have to struggle and strive to get clean drinking water. I understand the logic of celebrities doing it to raise "awareness" but lots of people are doing it as an attention seeking stunt now. It would be more beneficial to those suffering if you actually donated some money instead of looking for an excuse to post a video of you in a we're t-shirt.

I just got challenged so I'll be doing both, donating and dumping the bucket on my head. Some people do it for attention but the truth of the matter is, without the challenge ALS donations would never be as high as they are today... so if it takes a "wasted" bucket of water...fine. Pour one out for my homies.

Agreed. I see girls doing it just to post videos of themselves in bikinis or guys doing it just to be shirtless and show off, while never once mentioning ALS.

It started out really well and I mean we have raised awareness and $30million and that is great but there are so many other charities that are going unnoticed and we are wasting fresh drinking water and ice to pour on ourselves

Wasn't there a video made about this from a guy recently diagnosed? I think he was 26 when he found and he's taking care of his mom who is in the later stages of als. Last year they raised 2 mil, this year it was 50 mil, last time I checked. These challenges are not ideal but has made a massive impact.
