Now I don't mean to be ignorant, but isn't Saudi Arabia a very very rich country with no lack of food anyway?

Every country has people living below the poverty line (Saudi Arabia have 12% of their population below the line I think) but you are right, they are pretty high up there for lowest poverty rate.

People here are either wealthy enough to live an above average life or poor enough to have to beg at road intersection and red lights.
