That's actually somewhat of a goal for one of the book ideas I have. It's told in journal style, and there are hints to the reader that one of the characters has a crush on the protagonist but he doesn't notice. His story is something completely separate, but later I'd write another journal book, but from her perspective and with her story.

The point is, writers would have to be really inspired to come up with equels that actually add a real level of depth to the story, or even better, that completely turn the tables.
And I know some of them are able to do this.
And I hope it will happen someday. May your voice be heard, OP.
This reminds me of a series of books called "both sides of the story" I saw once in Disneyland.. They told the Classic Disney Princess stories... One side of the book would be from the princess's point of view, and the other side would be from the villain's point of view. I thought it was clever
Stupid humans daring to fight me, a Maiar!
