1000 ft hole found at Lower Ruth Glacier in Alaska covered only by a sheet of clear ice

That reminds me of that one part of the movie Ice Age. I kind of had the urge to jump down there and slide on its walls for a little while.

I don't think that's possible that this is covered by a thin layer of ice
