I believe in science, evolution and the Big Bang.
I also believe that it is God who started those processes, but thats my opinion and I wont force it upon anyone, not even my kids because thats wrong. Everyone decides for themselves what they want to believe and everyone has to respect that.
No, you should let your kids decide if they really believe it or not. And I think it's not generally about if you believe God just snapped his fingers or if it took billions of years for everything to happen. I believe in God but he could have used the big bang (which is just the best theory we have and not a fact I remind you.) to create the universe and all living things developed over time. I believe all that. But I don't believe in human evolution in the sense that humans evolved from an ape like creature over x amount of millions of years. And if you don't like that, then too damn bad. I'm not going to change what I KNOW to be true and my beliefs because some scientist and the world tells me to. I also believe that knowledge is important but when we get to the next life, that your spiritual knowledge and beliefs will be far more valuable than any earthly knowledge we could have had. And the day will come when every man woman and child will see the face of God and cannot deny him.
I grow up in a somewhat religious family. We say grace before big family meals, we have crucifixes, etc. But I'm not a very religious person. I still bow my head respectfully when they say grace, I still don't bring up how I percieve the world, etc. If people believe in God then by all means let them. If they don't then let them. Stop forcing your side of the argument on eachother.
True but not funny so take your unfunny post and go somewhere else with it because this is called FUNsubstance and not captainobvioussubstance
Thx in advance

Hey look it's a mean way to say it but it is supposed to be FUNsubstance
I'm going to teach my kids (if I decide to have them) what I believe, because why would I withhold from them what I'm convinced is truth? However, I'll also teach them how to use their brains, and so when they're growing up they can figure out for themselves what to put their trust in, what they want to believe. Teaching kids your beliefs isn't the same as forcing them.
Also, what gdawg47 said - you can be an engineer while still being skeptical of evolution.
If they want scientifically literate kids, then why are they teaching them that consensus = truth when in reality it only takes one fact to disprove a hypothesis, and that all the 97% consensus in the world cannot change this.
How does believing in evolution or God make or break a scientist?
Also, is it just me or does anyone else get the feeling that this is a hypocritical thing to say? Not forcing kids to believe in religion but instead to (subtlety) force them into belief in only science.
