You sound just as confused as she. Why couldn't it be a reason? I mean... If we follow scientific theory, nothing can be a fact until an observable conclusion is to be made. Sooo technically, you have as much room I be as wrong as you think she is. No?
Where did the first quark come from? Doesn't that bother scientists? By their very creed, they can't believe in anything they can't prove, so in a way, their whole outlook is flawed because they can't answer that one single question. You can't even say the Big Bang created it because you needed a quark to have a bang.
