I think face-to-face bullying is the more serious issue. With Cyberbullying there IS an escape- it may be hard- but it's there. you do not NEED social networking. With face to face bullying, you NEED to be thrown into the same place as the bullies since it's usually in school. You can't just walk out of school forever. But you can click 'delete' on an account.
Ya but usually it's face to face bullying then continues at school, it's online bullying but it's usually by the same people you goto school with, so you suffer at school and can't have a facebook account like everyone else then that makes you depressed even if you deleted you could still be trashed online, then hear about it later..
It's probably really hard to go through something like that, because once something's on the internet EVERYONE hears about it, it could be copied it could be reposted and more people then school knows about it and before you know it your reputation is ruined and just like the Amanda Todd story you think thoughts of suicide....
So it's not just that easy to turn off your computer or delete an account.
But why should you? If a kid was getting bullied in a public playground should they just never go there even though all their friends do, that's where they hang out, share conversations and jokes and arrange to meet up outside of the playground?
Should people get worked up about cyber bullying? No, if they can just ignore it, by all means, but I'm sick of this idea that cyber bullying is not an issue and that people should just not have a social life just because some assholes decide they don't like him, and no one sticks up for him.
The thing is cyber bullying often comes hand in hand with real world bullying. In my case my bullies were using it to circulate "proof" that I was a guy, and meet ups where they could pin me down and fondle my breasts and crotch to find more "evidence" (like specific days where a group would follow me home and jump me). I was ignoring all my online messages to try and avoid the hurtful comments, even from people trying to warn me this was being planned. It didn't work :/
It's not really something to be waved off, it can be very scary.
Well, although he states in a REALLY stupid way, I agree with him. Sure, harassment in real life is a different issue, but you don't have to take that on social media.
CA, I think he meant the people that do the bullying. Instead of, like what you did, calling people names or sending threats or tell them they should take their life away, you should go and calm down. Like, think about what you type first instead of worrying how bad it'll impact someone you know won't take it lightly.
I agree with this guy in part. Don't pay attention because is sad people that bully to feel better about themselves. But sometimes I guess it's hard since they can affevt you out of a computer. I grew up w/o cyber bullying and even bullying in general because it will be back and forth teasing but everyone not a target. But I'm afraid my future kids might :/
The reason I overreacted was because I was cyber-bullied and this guy comes out saying just to ignore it. They can continue it offline and it fucking hurts. So you guys shouldn't be bagging me out for saying one bad thing. Like you guys have never called anyone names. If you haven't; then I give you permission to bag me out. Sure, go ahead. I've heard it all before and I hear it almost every day of my life. But if you haven't, why don't YOU think about what you say before you type it. Because you don't know if it THEY won't take it lightly and could hurt them or cause them even more depression/ to relapse.
