It's considered a dead language because it isnt changing and evolving as other languages are. We aren't adding new words to it.

There are actually no latin words that mean laptop or television. Television is actually half greek and half latin. Another reason it's considered a dead language is because no one speaks it as their native language. Latin is a root language, it gave us French, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, and Romanian. It's used quite a bit in the medical and science communities. It isn't extinct, but it is dead.
