This is so wrong, you're just manipulating someone into feeling sorry for you. When somebody (for once) does something good you shouldn't take advantage of it like that.
I would hope that after someone tried this and was successful that they would reveal it, pay the bill, and then give the waiter/waitress a huge tip for being an awesome person. That'd be so cool!
Not necessarily. For instance, whenever the managers at my second job (Chilis) get any type of meal, they get it for free. So if they wanted to, they could do the same exact thing for a random person.
And then its just being paid for by the company. Might not seem like such a big deal for a big chain like Chilis, but if its a small mom and pop restaurant its more noticeable that its coming out of the owner's pocket. Nothings ever free, somebody somewhere is paying for it
I once was sulking over a beer after a break-up, and a girl I knew from middle school recognized me. She came over and really tried to be the cheerful friend, and we ended up making a date for another day. It took a *little* acting, cuz the break-up had been coming for a month.
.
But, thanks for the heads-up. I won't get suckered into expressing any compassion for the next *apparently* down/forelorn/hearrtbroken people I see. Hey, I'm no chump!
