Unfortunately the government can force you out of your house so they can replace it with another building, and that's what happened here.

I don't think they can if it's a building. I think they can only do that if it's a road at the highway/interstate level.

I thought it was based on a drawing/painting of a house flying with balloons that the creators saw and liked, then made a story for it
