That happened to my bottom two wisdom teeth, and they only started hurting during my second pregnancy. I can tell you that the pain of an impacted wisdom tooth does, in fact, hurt more than childbirth.
Actually, the purpose of wisdom teeth is to push the teeth together to get rid of gaps. Back in the day when dental care was not widespread (which was like all of human history up until the 19th and 20th centuries) people often lost a significant number of their adult teeth, wisdom teeth were then useful for pushing all the adult teeth together, filling in the gaps from the missing teeth. So really, they are wise.
