In Swahili, yes. But the chants in Lion King are mostly Zulu, in which lion is "ingonyama."

I don't know about this. The background chorus sings "ingonyama" in their chant, but that doesn't sound right for the main guy.
Listen for yourself. The second word is definitely not "ingonyama."

This aren't the real lyrics. The lion king is set in the masa Mara in Tanzania where they speak Swahili. The language in the lyrics is English and Swahili.

No, the background chanting, at least, is Zulu. "Ingonyama" is Zulu for lion. The Swahili word would be simba

The Zulu word for lion is ibhubesi no one uses ingonyama although it does come up on goggle translate but it's not accurate

Oh. I know Xhosa has the same word, ingonyama.
