In skyrim there is an npc called Eric the slayer who was created for this one guy who loved the elder scrolls series... This character was made because the developers were impressed with his know about the lore of their games. (Here come the feels) Eric also got a tour of Bethesda studios sponsored by the make a wish foundation and got to see the game being developed but sadly he died of cancer before the games release but is now forever immortalized in the game he never got to see forever

Also one of the main art directors died before the games release. He died of cancer and never got to see the world he helped craft come to life
