Probably because the story was generally centred around her (Elsa), and she was a far more complex character than her sister. These are just my thoughts, though.
Maybe it's because all those years of struggle and isolation scarred them on different ways; anna turned attention seeking and gullible (enough to fall into a rather obvious trap and think she could fall in love in under a day), while elsa became someone to actually choose being alone and hiding to protect herself (and therefore, be a much more complex and obviously scarred person). No one wants to feel gullible and attention seeking rather than deep and complex, and that's why on a way, they choose to feel identified with elsa instead of anna. Just a guess, though.

I feel that I'm the only person that's never seen this movie... More of a Monsters Inc type of girl.
Because Elsa represents the character of all teenagers today, spends most of the time alone in her room, anti social and insecure, then regrets doing it after many years
Yea and no, because more little kids watched this movie than teenagers and little kids tend to be more social and playful so they wouldn't really relate to Elsa
I honestly found Anna a lot more appealing, but both of them seemed like copies of other characters to me. Anna is basically just Rapunzel- even her face is exactly the same, and I know that they're cousins, but it honestly just seems lazy. Elsa is a pretty obvious copy of Elphaba from Wicked. Both have powers that nobody understands, conflicted over whether they're using them for good or evil, a song about letting out their powers and not caring what anybody thinks anymore(Let it Go/ Defying Gravity),the popular upbeat companion who starts off not understanding but throughout the story begins to understand (Anna and Glinda)- and of course the obvious- the same voice.
Well the movie was basically following Anna...and Elsa ran away because she was afriad she'd hurt someone and the other royals were trying to kill/capture her.
You guessed.
Why was anna in it more, and anna had better character development
