The fact is that it's nether. What if you jump out of highschool into an interesting field of work. While there you work very hard, take calculated risks, show up early, stay late, save your $, read things relevant to your work, and always do whats best for the long term without being afraid to get your hands dirty?......do you think you would be in a better or worse financial situation than your friend pursuing a 4 year degree? Do you think you would be less or more valuable to the workforce world than your friend?
If you are afraid that a lack of diploma will limit your hiring, it might. But keep that in mind when choosing a field. If you want to be a doctor, lawyer, or other profession thay requires a lot of schooling, do the research. Run the loan to income/insurance math. Know the full story before you sign up. Dont jump into post highschool education, string it out for 6 years, come out with $50k-$250k of debt behind a 'religious art history' degree with zero job oopportunities just to blame society or the government because "your're the victim". Sorry for the rant. But it needs to be said.
