1. The trails horses generally poop on are motorbike or mountain biking trails (yeah, some people hike them, too).
2. Dog poop is small and easy to step in whereas horse poop is pretty obvious.
3. The places dogs poop are generally walking trails or parks.
4. It would be extremely difficult and inconvenient to carry a mini shovel while riding a horse and have to get off everytime your horse decides to take a dump (which, for some, is very frequently)
5. Horse poop has little smell compared to dog poop.
Actually, a lot of people I ride with will stop their horse and scoop up most of the poop or kick it off the trail (if it is walked frequently by people)
Horses on carriages have bags under them. So their pee and poop goes into a convenient place. Dog poop takes two seconds to clean. Why people dont, is very confusing. Just clean up as best you can!
Also bacteria from dog poo can seep into the water table when it rains and not all water treatment facilities are equipped to filter that out. Horses are herbivores and have less dangerous bacteria in their dropping than omnivores such as dogs. If you bag dog poo and throw it in the garbage it goes to the dump rather than your water.
If I dont have the ability to scoop up the pop when Im out riding I drive there after Im done in the stable with a shovel and clean it up. Perhaps not on a trail in the forest where there are no hikers only horsebackriders, but otherwise I try and clean up to the best of my ability. I find, as both a rider and a dog owner, that more riders clean up after their horses than dog owners do (thinking % wise)
Yes it does, dog poop can't decompose therefore it's bad for soil. Horse poop on the other hand can decompose and it's great for soil (and i didn't even learn this at school, where i'm supposed to learn this kind of stuff, i learned this from T.V.).
Except if you ride out alone and your horse does not sit still and you cant tie them because they have a bridle on how are you going to scoop up poop they don't provide bags that big then find a place to dump it which doesn't exist then find a spot to remount. Horse poop isn't toxic so just watch where you walk
Um. so you think that evry time a horse poops we get of pick it up then get back on.horses poop very 10-20 minutes!!!!!!!that can hurt your back very quckly..!!!!!!!
