stranded
/strandɪd/
adjective
adjective: stranded
(of a boat, sailor, or sea creature) left aground on a shore.
"a stranded whale"
left without the means to move from somewhere.
"she offers a lift to a stranded commuter"
she is correct He can leave the pills under the sunlight for a while. Pick them up later, and feel the temperature of the pills. The hotter ones are the red ones, the coolest, white pills. This is because the red color absorbs more energy, and the white ones reflect the whole light spectrum. So, take one hot, and one not so hot
If he breaks each pill in half and puts one half down and the other in his mouth he will only take 1 pill of each colour and then he'll only have one of each colour left in halves
Capsules aren't pills pill are solid and can almost always be broken in half. capsules are like small plastic shells with powder (the medicine) in it so ya he can break them in half and technically only take one of each colour
Ooohhhh my local lingo is:
Your pill is a tablet for me.
Your capsules are capsules for me.
Pills can be either tablets or capsules for me.

This is guest from the above "valid point & capsules" comment. Apologies, just read down. Still stand by the solar heating idea, to cut them in half he'd need a cutting inplement (ever watch a blind man try to break something small and solid cleanly in half?). Also he's blind, cutting them into 8 tinier pieces and keeping track of them without fumbling and losing in the sand would be a monumental task, nigh impossible. Much beter to keep the pills intact and stationary and rely mainly on his unhindered sense of touch to differentiate them. In my humble opinion that is.
Most pills can easily be broken in half for smaller doses and easier swallowing (for example children) and if he had pants with pockets there is a 90% chance he'll have more than one pocket and even if he did the pills probably came in a bag or container (all medicine dose) so if he has 2 pockets he can pull the pills out and break them in half hand put the other half in the other pocket, if he had only one pocket he will remove the container of the pills and put the halves that he doesn't eat in his pocket and then those back in the container. Even if he had the pills in his only pocket he could take out the whole pills and break them and put the halves in his pockets and only take out the whole pills while eating only one half, this way he'll only take the right dosage and have the remaining halves in his pocket. You also say leave it out in the sun but he's blind he'll lose them....

What if the pills are those little capsule ones with powder in them? Then what?
Your pill is a tablet for me.
Your capsules are capsules for me.
