I'm guessing his most obvious tattoos came after he made into the field, it sucks but hats how people are. I'm sure some old scientific mind would have never let him in like he is now. And yes, he kicks butt.

I am guessing that when he went for his job interview he had them covered.

That's not a "real" job. That's a dream job.
