All the more reason to adapt Harry Potter Game of Thrones style. 7 seasons of Harry Potter!!!

I disagree with the post, lines were interchanged to add humour to an otherwise fairly dark story (e.g Ron's "he's right you know"), plus the films had a much shorter amount of time to portray the characters and their development in each film, meaning key character traits had to be made a lot more prominent.

The point wasn't that you shouldn't ever change anything in an adaptation of a book, it was that if you do change something, whether it be to add humor or shorten the story or whatever, it shouldn't be completely against character for them to do it. As an extreme example, if you had a book character that is the physical embodiment of PETA, you wouldn't make them harm an animal for a joke in the movie. By all means add the joke if you think its funny, but have another character do it, one that might actually have done it in the book.

Im not a huge fan of Harry Potter but while the book readers think this, there are huge differences between those who watch the movies and those who read the books. Not everyone reads the books so if some crazy feminazi saw Hermione with some major flaws I'm sure there would have been an uproar. But reality check. It's never been about following the original series. It's been about the money and to get money you must target the right audience and you all know it.
