Guy survives round to the head thanks to kevlar helmet

Anybody remember the beginning of Saving Private Ryan? A guy's helmet deflected a round, when he took it off to look at the dent the next round pierced his head. We all stared at the screen in stunned silence, I hope this guy is ok after his photo op.

I wonder if he got concussed though...
