There were also bayonets, which were guns with swords on them. But just imagine if we combined a flamethrower with a badass sword! Freaking awesome things would happen
Push it against the left side of your target's throat.
Hold it there until the target stops moving.
Stay there for a few minutes longer and they will croak.
Are you going for the carotid baroreceptors? I think that would require pressure on both sides, some massage even and then there's the problem of thumbs being very inconveniently located to perform such acrobacies. Not to mention the obivous problem of keeping the victim still for at least few minuts untill they pass out.
Could you please elaborate a bit, I'm really interested and it's been bugging me since forever. :)
Wait a bit. How could one gauge out anyone's eyes if they're pressing at their carotid baroreceptors? I'm sorry if this is going to come off a bit rude but do you know what are those anyway?
Ah, my friend, I wish you came clean in the beginning. Your comments were so mysterious, I actually thought you weren't just shooting into the dark.
Yes, throat is important but guess what? Strangled people die because their carotid baroreceptors are squeezed and the signal they send to the brain slows down the heart rate as a response. Turns out, heart is a bit more important than the throat since people usually die when their heart rate slows down too much. Feel free to thank me for educating you. Cheerio!
It's not a fucked up conversation. I'm studying medicine and I'm curious about things. Carotid massage is a legit thing to help with tachycardia.
Good God, you're acting like I was force-feeding you veggies or something.
The difference between guns and swords, is that you cannot kill at a distance, nor can you mow down 20 people within seconds, and the likelihood of dying from a stab wound compared to a gun wound is a lot lower.
Well, when swords were a thing, medicine was horrible.
Also, Asian blades were very capable of cutting down multiple people very quickly.
As for distance, arrows, bolts, and lead balls were around back then.
HOW TO KNOCK SOMEBODY OUT IN ONE PUNCH AND POSSIBLY KILL THEM - punch to the side of the neck. There is an artery there that supplies blood to the brain and if you hit hard enough, they will go unconscious, and if they don't receive medical attention, will probably die.
Most of them were used by badasses.
We'd need napalm, or Greek fire if we want an efficient fire sword.
Swords are cool. Too bad warfare evolved past them.
Hold it there until the target stops moving.

Unless you want to gauge out the target's eyes, I can't help you.
Good luck!
And no I don't know what those are. I only know that the throat is a bit important.

Also, good luck with your studies! :)
