#1 is actually a phenomenon called the Event Boundary, and is caused by doorways in our houses. You're sitting in a room and think of something you need to do in another room. Once you walk through the doorway to the next room, your memory sort of wipes itself clean, like you went into a different folder in your computer. You can't remember what you were going to do a second ago because that memory was connected to that previous room you were in. Go back, and you'll probably remember.

When you try to balance the light switch and do it successfully it makes this weird crakcly noise that freaked me out. i thought i was going to get electrocuted.
