We still do. Cocaine is used as local anesthesia for the nasal mucosa, morphine is widely used as a painkiller that also reduces heart rate. No idea what opium is used for. Heroin is the only thing that isn't used medically, I think. Way too addictive.

Sorry for being so late but, Opium is one of the main ingredients in morphine. You can't make morphine without opium, that's why Fort Knox (spelling?) has Americas national reserve

Yeah, thank you. About my life goal... it's to be happy, not to become a doctor or anything. It's just a job, stressful and crazy but honestly, a job, not a life goal. I'm sick of people who want to play Jesus the Second by saying all they ever wanted to do is save lives wearing a pearly white coat. :B

I agree with you on that. I'd say that's the meaning of life, to be happy and to make other people happy. And if you aren't happy, do something about it. And of your friend or whatever isn't happy, try your best to make them happy. I don't know if I'm right or not, I'm only 15 but I like to think I am. :K

Radioactive stuff used to be in everything when radiation was first discovered. Arsenic green pigment also used to be very popular.
