It isn't that "the intelligent people won't wait until the night before", it's that the intelligent people are the ones who would still be making an effort to study, even the night before. I got the idea as a piece of advice from other students with very high grades. Personally, I have found that studying each unit or concept in depth gradually, then ultimate cramming the night before will increase my confidence on tests, and my score. It truly is the ability to memorize, but it's easier to remember short-term, hence doing so the night before.
And after school/on vacation I can't even remember anything

I feel like exams are a bit unfair in testing intelligence or knowledge. You may have read the whole book but why does the exam come from that tiny corner or that table on the left side? WHY?!
and that's the good kind of exams. some that i take also test the ability to read minds of the asshole who wrote the questions a) stupidly and b)asking the things we never covered in any lecture, book or anything.
