You can, but it can take a decade or more.

I agree. If you can go back to being friends, you were never in love in the first place.

I disagree. Well of course in some cases but I think you can be friends. I am still friends with a guy who was in love with me and I am still friends with a guy who I was in love with. It may not be easy but if you really care about that person I think it's possible. Altough it certainly depends on the situation you are in or what kind of relationship you had before.

Bullshit, my never-want-to-see-them-again-to-stayed-friends ratio is pretty much 50/50.

There's a difference between loving and being in love. If you've fallen in love, you will always love the person..but you may not be IN love with them.

That's bullshit too, there are 3 people on this planet that I was deeply in love with at certain points in time, where now just thinking about them can piss me off on a bad day.

I get that. But for me, somehow or another, I care enough to think about them..even if they piss me the hell off

That's fine and all, but don't talk about it like it's some kind of general rule. Different people have different reactions and opinions to this stuff.

Then let me reword. "If you've fallen in love, you may or may not always love the person.."

That's obviously better, but now it doesn't seem like such sage advice, does it?

It was never meant to be advice, only my opinion on a given statement.

Hmm...Well it certainly doesn't read that way. It's very affirmative.

Hmm, from personal experience I think it's possible. I think it's just a matter of maturity between the two people. But I guess there's also the question of how the relationship was ended. I guess if you had a bad ending then yes it would lead to this, but if it was a mutual thing then I don't see why it'd have to be like this. In my experience though, I had a bad ending but we're still friends.
