Alrighty then. Makes sense. In fact, the British name for soccer (also football) makes more sense (than soccer), because it's feet only, except for those other things.

No this is not right. It's called football because it's a ball game played on your feet. A ball in sports terms does not have to be a perfectly round ball. In the early days of sports rich people played on horseback (polo for example), while more common people played games on foot. This is, combined with that fact that it started as a game more similar to soccer(or if you're English football), is how it got it's name.
