The only alternative was to invade the mainland, which would've caused millions of deaths.

I get that Japan was a victim of the nuclear attack but I kinda get annoyed when people act like US was a complete murder beast and Japan was a completely helpless victim
Like if you see the kind of atrocities Japan committed in the war, in some ways they were worse than the Nazis lol. Of course I'm not saying this justifies US nuking them and such but it's a thing to think about.
Saying that some of their atrocities were worse doesn't even begin to cover it.
If I had two bullets, and was stuck in a room with the Furer and the emperor, I'd be hard pressed not to shoot the emperor twice.
Remember, the common people may have thought that. The people in power might or might not have thought/been privy to the fact the he was in fact a human but kept up the act in order to control the people by saying it was through the emperor's orders.
Look up what the Japs did to the people of Manchuria and in the Phillipines and the Bataan Death March, not to mention Pearl Harbor as well. You might say atomic warfare was justified.
I did a presentation on this last year and I also concluded that the nukes were justified. Less lives lost (especially American ones), fast surrender, nobody uses nukes nowadays because we saw firsthand the destruction it could cause. Japan did technically attack first so in my twisted moral world, that justifies a complete annihilation of the enemy if possible and if desired (fortunately not otherwise where would we get Toyota and tentacle porn?). Also it was generally concluded that the Japanese civilians would be willing to fight against the American invaders so because of this, they are now labeled as combatants and are thus fair game for attack.
Sugarmice, that was the worst use of a "lol" I've ever seen on the internet, and I've seen a lot of "lol"s.
Also, Toyota and Tentacle Porn would make a good name for a band.

If I were stuck in a room with Hitler and whoever the hell in Japan decided to try and conquer the world.
