Predators tend to avoid brightly colored animals, since they're usually really poisonous. Some animals have bright colors even when they're not poisonous in an attempt to seem poisonous. It works for them quite well.
As a kid I read this old traditional tale about a snail that wanted to be different and so when the time came to make his shell, he made it all colourful. Then some little kids found him and started playing with him and poking him with sticks. In the end, he ended up breaking his shell and escaping, nearly dead, then making a regular shell.
Moral of the story: little kids are dicks.

Ok I looked it up it is a part of them but its like bone and will not hurt to paint them
