Our flesh feeds the orange overlords, who bless us with our fruit. It's an endless cycle of sunshine and citrus.

Those who resist are fed to the gators.

Or to the elderly northerners that come down every winter

Has no one mentioned the Great Mosquito War?

It's why many people go insane in Florida, they can't handle their blood slowly transforming into Orange Juice from it being consumed.
We're also cousins of Australia, so that's pretty neat.
