This book is fucking stupid, I swear anybody who calls it literature deserves be thrown into a pit of cobras, along with the twilight fans. No, Shakespeare, Rossetti, Ovid, Wilde etc THEIR WORK IS LITERATURE. Look, I get that you're all horny *roles eyes* but please, wherever I look all I see is this bloody film being shoved in my face. On youtube, at bus stations, on T.V the radio I CAN'T ESCAPE. GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!

So much YES. Tons of my friends want to go see it and when I say, "It's glorifying and romanticizing abuse," they go, "OH you're one of THOSE people." Uh, yes, I'm one of those people with a brain. I hate this book and I hate the message it's bringing to men and women.
That's what I heard
Way back when people didn't know if there was going to be a movie or not everyone was like " you know it started out as twilight fan fiction right ? "
The original was called "Master of the Universe" or something, I dunno, I never really read their fics, but yes, it was Wardo and Bella, and like an AU where Wardo's secret was "BDSM" and not, well, sparkles. The author then changed the names and title and published it as standalone. For reasons.
My best friend, who is the type of person that will skip past makeout scenes in movies, wants to see this. She doesn't believe me or my sister when we say it's basically porn because "the trailer doesn't look that bad."
THANK YOU. I was really going to see this movie, then I was on Tumblr when some of the abusive things he said pops up on my dashboard and I'm just disgusted & uncomfortable for the next 20 minutes. I felt like I'd just been slapped with reality. Then I realize that this is not even accurately representing the BDSM community which people always put down because if its not vanilla sex its wrong ); Anyways BDSM is about safety and giving away power or having power (with trust) to/over someone in order to let go and relax. This movie and book seems like saying that as long as he's rich and hot its okay for him to be abusive because hes damaged and you really like him. And that is just wrong, i hope it flops as a movie but i know it won't because all these people who find it sexually arousing (which is not wrong because people have their kinks too, and some things just really turn you on) or romantic will push for a second and third. It makes me sad because people are so influenced by
I think the biggest misconception this book glorifies is that "no" doesn't mean "no" as long as it's under the guise of BDSM. Be it a safe-word (a real one, in which there is no negative repercussion to using it) or any other sign that has been agreed means 'stop', BDSM is all about consent. Kinky is great. Forcibly taking away anothers will without their permission is not. Thank you, Captain, for highlighting this.
I get all of your point of views but I really wish we put our passions to something that mattered a bit more than a controversy in pop culture live and let live...and honestly it was a horribly written twilight fan fiction twilight had a lot of creepy things too he broke in her house and watched her sleep...repeatedly nobody lost their shit with that and that was targeted mostly for teens not young adults.

But I agree with you
