well being one of those illiterate ones back in high school, in our defense, some of us actually volunteer to become better readers of the English language, hence why we go to school :-(
I could never pay attention to people who read out loud whether they're good or bad. I have to read by myself or I start dreaming of other things to do.

It's great that some people do want to improve their reading but at my school it was always the "popular" jerks that volunteered and then didn't even know where to start reading from, couldn't read and they didn't care about improving their reading skills so it was just annoying
Also, I don't have a problem with people who are bad at reading. I have a problem when they try to pretend that they're better than they are. Usually this manifests itself by them trying to read faster than they're capable of, so they end up stumbling over themselves. Read the damn thing as slow as you need to and read it clearly so that you don't have to repeat the same thing six times.
