If you fake a crime, can't you be charged and penalized the same way as if you had actually done it? For example, faking rape means you can be charged with raping someone?
Sort of. Like, if you joke about shooting up a school or killing someone, and someone believes you you can go to jail. I forgot what the term was but it was something like scaring people under falso pretensis.
They would still charge you but not with the exact same crime.
Reckless endangerment and fearmongering or something of that nature.
