there's actually a plant that grows in most areas of australia, it's quite poisonous, a troupe of scouts used the branches for marshmallows and they all got extremely sick, the nectar or sap can be used as an effective poison as well, a painful way to die though

Gympie-Gympie, or dedrocnide moroides. Apparently you can eat the fruit, provided you remove the stinging hairs that absolutely cover the blighters.
